ABOUT KAI

Since 1986, KAI, a small women-owned company, has supported an impressive array of government agencies, private sector corporations, and other research institutions in a variety of health research activities. KAI's services include support for clinical study design, development, implementation and coordination, study operations and site monitoring, data analyses, and pharmacovigilance and safety reporting. KAI also provides health and science policy support, quality assurance services, data management, health related information technology and systems development and related services. KAI integrates the expertise, experience, energy, and resources to provide the scientific, methodological, technical, and analytic support necessary to support clinical studies and other health research projects across diverse fields of study.

KAI staff members possess a unique set of experiences, capabilities, and resources essential to support all aspects of health research studies. KAI's technical capabilities and specialties include: implementing clinical research data management systems by customizing the KAI SMART STUDY™ system; developing information systems to support clinical research activities; manipulating large data sets; and statistical programming.

KAI's facilities occupy over 16,000 square feet, which accommodates private offices, conference rooms, library, data center, data-entry and phone centers, and secure document storage space. KAI has a battery of telephone lines and multiple toll-free telephone lines designed for handling communications required by multi-center studies and for collecting data during computer assisted telephone interviews (CATI). KAI also has a variety of data entry and production tools to meet our clients' needs.

KAI's office space includes a secure, climate controlled server and data-storage facility. The facility houses Microsoft NT network servers. These servers support e-mail (Microsoft Exchange), Web and FTP Hosting (Microsoft IIS), database (Microsoft SQL Server) as well as file, prints and account services (Microsoft 2000). The facility also houses separate test and development servers and Citrix MetaFrame servers to support remote clients through application hosting. All KAI staff have PC's running Windows 2000 connected to KAI-Net. KAI-Net is a secure, high-speed, switched Ethernet network. Anti-virus software running on both PCs and servers guards client data from corruption. KAI-Net performs an automatic DTL tape backup nightly and has tested data restoration procedures in place.
